Predictions rules
What Predictions is
Predictions is a free game by Appost. You predict who wins each match of the round in the Argentine Liga Profesional and the Brasileirão, you score points when you get it right, and you compare yourself with everyone else, with your club's fans and with the Oracle. It is free to play and you don't need an account.
How to predict
- Pick home win, draw or away win. You can change your prediction for free until the match starts; from kickoff it is locked.
- If you want, add the exact score. It has to match your prediction: if you picked the home team, the home team has to score more goals.
How points are scored
- 3 points if you get the winner right (home, draw or away).
- +3 points if you also get the exact score right (6 in total).
- +2 upset points if you got right a winner that 25 % of people or fewer picked (with 50 votes or more). Draws don't count.
- A miss scores 0. You never lose points.
The result after 90 minutes plus stoppage time is what counts. If the match goes to extra time or penalties, the score at the end of the 90 minutes counts. If we don't have that score, a match that went to extra time counts as a draw, a match decided on penalties counts as the result without the shootout (a draw if it was level), and in those two cases the exact score scores for nobody.
Void matches
A match is void if it is cancelled, suspended or postponed without a new date, or if it still hasn't finished 48 hours after its scheduled time. A void match scores no points for anyone and does not count in the tables. If a match is rescheduled, you can predict until the new kickoff.
The tables
- Round: starts from zero every round, so anyone can win it.
- Tournament: adds up every round of the tournament.
- Your club: players who support the same club as you, when there are at least 5.
- Which fans know best?: clubs ranked by hit rate, among those with at least 15 players in the round.
Ties on points are broken by correct picks, then exact scores, then upsets. Appost's Oracle plays like anyone else: it only predicts the winner, earns no upset points and, in matches where it has no pick, it passes.
Nickname and public tables
You can set a nickname to appear in the tables. Without one, you appear as a fan of your club with a short code. Nicknames can't be offensive and Appost may remove or change them. In the Me tab you can choose to not appear in the tables publicly: you keep playing and keep your position, but your nickname is not shown.
No prizes and no betting
There are no prizes of any kind: no money, no goods, no perks. Points have no value and can't be exchanged. Predictions may not be used for betting or to organise bets between players. If we detect that use, we may remove the player from the game.
Your account
You can play without an account. If you change phones or delete the app you may lose your points; to keep them, sign in with Google or WhatsApp.
Changes
Appost may change these rules, and changes apply from the moment they are published here. If a technical error miscalculates a result, it is corrected and the tables are recalculated.
